Trial Begins for Boynton Beach Teacher Accused of Sexual Assault

In May of 2025, a teacher accused of sexual assault and assisted suicide finally received a trial date. Next month, a court will explore serious allegations made against the former teacher to determine whether the man is guilty of unlawful sexual activity with a minor and attempted assisted suicide. The victim’s parents are simultaneously moving forward with a sexual assault lawsuit in Boynton Beach.
Teacher Allegedly Created “Suicide Pact” With 16-Year-Old After Sexual Abuse
According to CBS 12, the former teacher started a relationship with a 16-year-old student in 2023. After this sexual relationship began, the pair reportedly met at a Home Depot and purchased a piece of chain and rope. Afterward, local police found the girl hanging by her neck from a tree. Miraculously, first responders managed to perform CPR and save the girl’s life.
The teacher was eventually arrested in February of 2024 after admitting to having a sexual relationship with the child. He is also accused of forming a “suicide pact” with the victim, with both parties allegedly agreeing to take their own lives. Prosecutors say it was this agreement that led to the Home Depot trip and the girl’s suicide attempt.
The teacher is going to try to defend himself in court with various strategies. First, he seems set to argue that it was the 16-year-old girl who initiated the relationship – not him. His lawyer also claimed that his statements to police before his arrest should be excluded from the trial, as he had not yet been given a Miranda warning at the time. He could face almost 100 years in prison if convicted.
The Family Is Also Suing the Teacher
The family of the victim has already sued the teacher and the school in civil court. They say that staff ignored widespread rumors, including reports from other students. The family also claims that there were “visible signs” of an inappropriate relationship between the two. The defendant allegedly sexually assaulted the victim on multiple occasions, including incidents that occurred on school grounds.
Investigators uncovered thousands of romantic and sexual text messages between the pair. Students shared a video of the student and teacher getting into a car together in the parking lot. There were reports of visible bruising after these alleged sexual encounters. After a male student gave administrators clear evidence of the relationship, staff questioned the victim alone before letting her leave the campus without parental supervision. She then proceeded to meet with the teacher and attempt suicide.
