Tow Truck Slams Into Vehicles Waiting at Red Light, Killing One

TowTruck_

In August of 2025, CBS12 reported that a tow truck had slammed into a group of vehicles waiting at a red light in Boca Raton. The collision killed a 61-year-old man and injured two others. This incident highlights the serious hazards posed by tow trucks, and it may lead to a wrongful death lawsuit against the tow truck company. Those who have experienced similar incidents may want to contact an experienced personal injury lawyer in Boca Raton.

Tow Truck “Barrels” Into Three Vehicles in Boca Raton

The vehicle that killed the 61-year-old senior impacted three vehicles waiting at the red light, sparking a “chain-reaction crash.” Police say that the tow truck driver “failed to stop” when approaching the red light – which is a clear identification of fault. Police also stated that the tow truck “caused” the multiple-vehicle collision.

First, it collided with the back of a Ford Escape. That vehicle then jolted forward due to the impact before smashing into a Hyundai Elantra. The initial collision had enough force to propel the Elantra forward as well, causing a third impact with a Jeep Cherokee.

The 61-year-old driver of the Ford Escape died in the collision. In addition, the two occupants of the Elantra suffered unspecified injuries and were hospitalized as a result. One of these occupants was a three-year-old child. There was no word on whether the tow truck driver faced criminal charges, although police say the crash is still under investigation.

Even with the absence of criminal charges, it is safe to say that truckers cause crashes all the time in Florida. At around the same time, a semi-truck driver fell asleep behind the wheel elsewhere in the Sunshine State. He then proceeded to rear-end a vehicle, causing “serious injuries” to the driver.
