Nursing Home Faces Wrongful Death Lawsuit in Boca Raton

EmptyRoom

On June 27th, 2026, the Boca Post reported that a nursing home was facing a wrongful death lawsuit in Boca Raton. The family members of the victim claim that the facility neglected their elderly loved one, and that this neglect ultimately had fatal consequences. If you are grieving the loss of an elderly loved one under similar circumstances, consider contacting a wrongful death attorney in Boca Raton.

Senior Allegedly Suffered From Weight Loss, Ulcers, and Assaults Before His Death

The plaintiffs allege that the nursing home in question allowed the resident to develop ulcers and significant weight loss before his death in 2024. The lawsuit also accuses the nursing home of allowing the victim to be assaulted by other residents. The family notes that when the victim first entered the facility, he had no bedsores (pressure ulcers) but suffered from dementia, recurrent falls, and other issues.

After his admission in 2022, the victim’s health reportedly declined rapidly. He fell repeatedly, eventually resulting in a hip contusion. He then developed a hand wound, cellulitis, and encephalopathy, all within two years of entering the facility. After two years, he had lost 28 pounds and developed five separate bedsores. The final straw was an assault carried out by another resident, and the victim died a few months later.

According to the report, the defendants have not officially responded to the allegations. However, such a rapid decline with so many bedsores and such severe weight loss is not exactly encouraging news. Bedsores are closely associated with neglect, as they develop when staff members do not change sheets and move patients into different lying positions.

Another Nursing Home in Boca Raton Faces a Similar Lawsuit

Just days earlier, the Boca Post reported that another nursing home in Boca Raton was facing a very similar wrongful death lawsuit. This claim involves a “preventable fall” that led to the death of an elderly resident at the facility. According to the victim’s family members, The fall occurred in July of 2024, and resulted in a distal femur fracture. For whatever reason, the facility only called an ambulance three days after the fall.

A subsequent surgical procedure involved a “total knee arthroplasty,” but the victim ultimately passed away four days after the procedure. The plaintiffs claim that the death was a direct result of the facility’s failure in its duty of care. These two incidents show how common wrongful death lawsuits have become, especially in regard to nursing home incidents.
