In March of 2025, Local 10 News reported that 150 people on a major cruise suffered some kind of gastrointestinal illness at sea. The vessel departed from Port Everglades before returning seven days later. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) believes that these individuals may have contracted norovirus, which is associated with severe diarrhea. It is unclear whether any of these victims plans to sue.
Cruise Ship Passenger Sues After Slip and Fall
Later in March, Royal Caribbean Blog reported that a cruise ship passenger had sued a major cruise line for a slip and fall she suffered while at sea. The plaintiff states that she was walking down a walkway when she slipped, fell backward, and struck the deck. She believes that the fall was caused by rain-related moisture, and she believes that the staff should have addressed this safety hazard. This plaintiff reportedly suffered a concussion, neck injuries, and some kind of puncture wound.
Cruise Line Sued For Excursion Accident
Also in March, a cruise ship passenger filed another personal injury lawsuit after experiencing an ATV accident during an excursion. The plaintiff claims that while she was participating in the excursion, her ATV flipped over and fell onto her body. She reportedly suffered a broken collarbone, fractured ribs, back injuries, and other injuries. This plaintiff believes that the cruise line did not adequately supervise her, and she states that the company also chose a dangerous trail for the excursion.
Passenger Sues for Collapsing Bench Injury
In March, Cruisehive reported that another passenger had sued their cruise line in connection with an accident involving a collapsing bench. The accident occurred during a shore excursion. As the plaintiff sat down to wait for her turn to swim with Bahamian pigs, the bench beneath her broke. This sent her to the floor, causing her to suffer a fractured tailbone.
